Mother's Day Collage frame

I'm so excited about hanging out with some of my stampin' ladies this Friday for my Mother's Day collage frame class!

This collage was inspired by the Artisan embellishments kit found on page 10 of Stampin' UP's spring catalog (view the catalog under the Catalogs tab toward the top of the page).
I don't usually make alot of vintage projects so this kit was perfect for me to step out of my comfort zone without having to think much. The design and coordinations are done for you.

I can't wait to send this to my dearest mom as this years Mother's Day gift! I believe she will love it and cherish it for many years to come. I can't thank God enough for such a wonderful & beautiful woman that has always made herself available to me and my brothers throughout our lives!

Stampin Up Henry says card

Happy Friday to you!
I thought I'd share a card I put together using the Henry Says stamp set in the spring 2013 catalog.

My inspiration for this card came from the faux marble technique. When I thought of using the color blue, I knew that the color and technique was perfect for a cloud. Then it just all evolved from there.

If you haven't experienced the faux marble technique, you should give it a shot. It may be a bit messy but the end result is so fun and eclectic! Here's a video the I found useful to guide me:

My tips:
  •  If you are making multiple cards, use a cookie sheet lined with foil to cover a full 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock.
  •  use the cupcake punch to punch out "clouds"
  • for the "grass" look, use the scalloped edge punch. Punch out like normal the first time, then punch again but this time off-center.
  • cut out an extra ear, curl it, then adhere the right edge with a glue dot to Henry for dimension.

Supplies used:
  • cardstock: whisper white, pool party, basic grey, gumball green, primrose petals
  • ink: basic grey, daffodil delight, island indigo & pool party (for clouds)
  • stamp set: Henry Says
  • punches: scalloped edge, cupcake, itty bitty punches
  • Big Shot products: cloud embossing folder
  • dazzling details
  • non-SU!: shaving cream, spatula, paper towels, cookie sheet, foil

I hope these tips were helpful & inspirational!
I 'd love to hear from you. Please comment below.

Until next time!~

Blog Candy winner

It's time to announce the winner of our Blog candy contest!
The winner will receive the soon-to-be-retired Baja Breeze ink pad and seam binding ribbon!

Drum roll please...............................................................................

 Gina Smith!
Gina, you are today's winner! This special flower-holder was made from the petal card double punch.

 My tips:
  • Punch out 8 pieces of CS (cardstock) using the petal card double punch and snip one end of each piece.
  • layer & adhere each piece as shown below.
  •  attach the opposite ends together and adhere onto a 2 1/2" circle.
  • open up the petals and decorate as desired: in my case I re-used an empty button container that fit perfectly inside this flower holder. A cute and dainty gift for that special someone.

Thank you for taking the time to view and comment! Until next time.............

Stampin UP stamp club project and BLOG CANDY!

I'm feeling some mixed emotions about the upcoming Stampin' UP! 2013-2014 catalog and I'll tell you why. I hate losing some beautiful and fun stamp sets, embellishments, and colors, but I also understand that SU! is replacing something new and fun with the old. Sigh.....

I'm sure you've heard by now: some of SU!'s colors will be retiring soon and if you haven't heard, the following 10 colors will soon be retired (refer to my blog post from last week):
  • baja breeze ***
  • regal rose ***
  • pretty in pink ***
  • bashful blue ***
  • certainly celery ***
  • riding hood red
  • bravo burgundy
  • not quite navy
  • more mustard
  • river rock
***NOTE: the re-inkers are already SOLD OUT

One of my favorite colors that I've used alot is baja breeze! I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to this one =o(
With that said.....I have some BLOG CANDY to give away!

... I will select a random winner to receive the soon to be retired baja breeze ink pad and baja breeze seam binding ribbon:
